Just joined and getting the feel of the club, my pen pal posted the article for  Di Gilpins knitting network showing in Country Living magazine so I thought I would come and join you, and I am glad I did. I have an on going illness called crohn's disease, and it has kept me at home allot, and I have used my knitting to get me through the days. Its great therapy and now I have started designing knitted pincushions, so you can imagine I always have my needles at hand. bye for now.

Hi Jolee - welcome!  I know a lttle bit about your illness and how debilitating and isolating it can be.  Knitting is, as you say, great therapy - it's got me through some bad times too.

Hi All, I'm new here and I knit for therapy also.
It is so relaxing, motivating, challenging, inspiring, etc.
It's even like a meditation for me.
It helps me deal with the pain better.
I'm so excited - going to try the Cable/Seed Top pattern again.

I am going to check out the cable seed pattern right now! Glad you are knitting it again...I must confess it is the meditative side of knitting that I particularly love and I am thrilled that people are talking more openly about the therapeutic side. For me knitting offers just about everything...it can be social, but also solitary when you need to be. It is creative and fun. It is about sharing and giving. It is practical and useful. Elegant and fantastic. Meditative and calming. Time out for yourself in a mad world. Forget politics..take up knitting!
